No guided walks are in program during this week-end in the Reserve. But everybody can always hike on their own thanks to its great network of trails. Hikes in the Reserve are free and vary from flat short strolls in the area of the roman tunnels and of the romanesque abbey to harder walks to the mountain summits from where it is possible to enjoy grandiose sights over the Apennines. Guests can also profit by the free audioguides provided by the Visitor Centre of the Natural Reserve, situated in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Opening times on Sunday: 9.00 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 19.00. Guides are available in English as well as maps and guides detailing routes and day hikes. Phone 0721-700041. E-mail: riservafurlo@provincia.ps.it

At the Visitor Centre it is also possible to visit the Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini museum, unmissable for those who want to know nature and protected species living in the Reserve. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, like wolves, fallow-deers, birds of prey, and sections dedicated to rocks and fossils. An interactive software leads visitors millions of years back in an enjoyable journey to discover the geological and anthropological history of the Gola del Furlo. An observation system has been created to monitor and show from the museum the golden eagles’ eyries built on the crags in Monte Paganuccio. Opening times on Sunday: 9.00 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 19.00. Free admittance.
