Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 September 2016: "ViviFurlo", games, performances and guided walks for families
A three day program of free events is offered to families to enjoy the Reserve during the weekend thanks to the 6th edition of “ViviFurlo”. Playful activities, sports, hikes and stalls where to sample the authentic local cuisine will be the ideal opportunity to escape for a few hours of tranquility. Meet at the park of La Golena.
On Friday 23 September all the activities will be in the morning starting from 10 o’clock. The program comprises artificial wall climbing, donkey assisted leisure activities, bocce game, historical archery, good humour workshop, readings.
On Saturday 24 September activities will be from 10am to the night. The morning program comprises artificial wall climbing, volleyball, cycling gimkana for children, walk with donkeys, historical archery, archery, orienteeering, bocce game, tai-chi, good humour workshop. At 4.30pm visitors can opt for a literary walk for families combining nature and readings or a night hike up Monte Pietralata organized by the section of Pesaro of Cai, the national mountaneering association. A sunset guided walk to know the Reserve’s nature and explore the archaeological area along the dam will start at 5 pm. Sunday 18 September 2016: Hike up to Monte Pietralata and flat walk to discover Gola del Furlo's history and wilderness
A free hike up Monte Pietralata to admire the spectacular view from Rifugio Furlo (altitude 626 m) is organized in the morning by the group of Pesaro of the Club Alpino Italiano, the national mountaneering association. Meeting point at 8.45am at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n. 36. Guides will be provided by Club Alpino Italiano. Duration of the walk: about 5 hours round trip. The hike is suitable for those who are fairly fit. Dress for the current weather conditions. Bring sack-lunch.
In the afternoon the guided walk “Tra le meraviglie della Gola” will take visitors to know the Reserve’s history and nature by the flat itinerary along the dam. Meet at 3pm at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Thanks to their sequence of layered sedimentary rocks the mountains comprising the Reserve are the ideal place to observe the geological eras since 200 millions years ago. A naturalist guide will explain the sorts of plants and and flowers and talk about the wild animals and birds of prey, such as the golden eagle, which can be admired in the protected area. It will be possible to admire also the two tunnels drilled by the Romans along the via Flaminia, the grand road built during the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini. Length of the walk: about 6 kms round trip.

Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 September 2016: Monte Paganuccio Hike and overnight stay at the refuge
The two day excursion “Rifugio Family” is the opportunity offered to enjoy the Reserve’s scenic beauty during the weekend. The program comprises the overnight stay at the refuge Ca’ I Fabbri, funny games for adults and children and a walk to the top of Monte Paganuccio on Sunday morning. Meet on Saturday 10 September at 4.15pm at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna– via Flaminia n.36. Guests will reach the refuge by their own cars: as most of the 11 kms to get there will be on a mountain unpaved road, it is recommended not to come by low vehicles. Return will be on Sunday 11 September at 4pm. A small money contribution is required for meals served at the refuge. No charge for overnight stay and excursion’s playful activities.

Thanks to their sequence of layered sedimentary rocks the mountains comprising the Reserve are the ideal place to observe the geological eras since 200 millions years ago. A guide will explain the sorts of plants and flowers and talk about the wild animals and birds of prey, such as the golden eagle, which can be admired in the protected area. The walk will take visitors to the two tunnels drilled by the Romans along the via Flaminia, the grand road built during the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini. Two free events are offered to enjoy the Reserve during the week-end.
On Saturday 27 August the free guided walk “Il crepuscolo.. tra le meraviglie della Gola” will take visitors to enjoy suggestions and recognize birds songs at sunset. Meet at 6 p.m. at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Thanks to their sequence of layered sedimentary rocks the mountains comprising the Reserve are the ideal place to observe the geological eras since 200 millions years ago. A guide will explain the sorts of plants and flowers and talk about the wild animals and birds of prey, such as the golden eagle, which can be admired in the protected area. The night walk will take visitors to the two tunnels drilled by the Romans along the via Flaminia, the grand road built during the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini. In particular it will be possible to visit the older tunnel, open for the occasion. The route of the excursion will be flat and accessible to everybody. Length of the walk: about 7 kms round trip.
On Sunday 28 August the event “Il bosco di fantasia” will be for families and children older than 5 years. Meet at 4 p.m. at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Funny games and creative workshops will be organized in the park of La Golena and outside the museum Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini. Families should profit by the occasion to visit the museum, an unmissable place for those who want to know nature and protected species living in the Reserve. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, like wolves, fallow-deers, birds of prey, and sections dedicated to rocks and fossils.

Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 August 2016: Night walk up Monte Pietralata and flat walk to explore nature
Two free guided walks are offered to visit the Reserve during the week-end.
On Sunday 20 August the guided walk “Furlo family” will take adults and children up to Monte Pietralata to enjoy the spectacular sight from the Apennines to the Adriatic sea at sunset. Meet at 16.15 at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Guests will reach by their own cars Monte Pietralata. Waiting for sunset families and children will take part in fun games immersed in the mountain’s wonderful nature. The walk will be back at 21.30. Wearing waterproof jacket, sturdy shoes, pants, hat and layer clothing to be confortable as conditions change is recommended.

On Saturday 13 and on Sunday 14 August the free guided walk “Tra le meraviglie della Gola” will be in the morning and in the afternoon. Meet at 9.30 and at 15.30 at the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. On Monday 15 August, feast of Ferragosto, the guided walk “Furlo family” will take adults and children to the Candigliano river’s banks to enjoy birds songs, sounds and suggestions provided by the Reserve at sunset. The start will be at 19.30 from the visitor centre of the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Hand torches will be provided to lit the night guided walk and outdoor activities for families. At the Visitor Centre it will be also possible to visit the Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini museum, unmissable for those who want to know nature and protected species living in the Reserve. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, like wolves, fallow-deers, birds of prey, and sections dedicated to rocks and fossils.

7 August 2016: Visits to the nature museum and free audioguides for hikes in the Reserve
No guided walks are in program during this week-end in the Reserve. But everybody can always hike on their own thanks to its great network of trails. Hikes in the Reserve are free and vary from flat short strolls in the area of the roman tunnels and of the romanesque abbey to harder walks to the mountain summits from where it is possible to enjoy grandiose sights over the Apennines. Guests can also profit by the free audioguides provided by the Visitor Centre of the Natural Reserve, situated in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. At the Visitor Centre it is also possible to visit the Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini museum, unmissable for those who want to know nature and protected species living in the Reserve. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, like wolves, fallow-deers, birds of prey, and sections dedicated to rocks and fossils. An interactive software leads visitors millions of years back in an enjoyable journey to discover the geological and anthropological history of the Gola del Furlo. An observation system has been created to monitor and show from the museum the golden eagles’ eyries built on the crags in Monte Paganuccio. Opening times on Sunday: 9.00 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 19.00. Sunday 31 July 2016: Summer black truffle fair, guided visit to the Reserve, night jazz concert
The rich program offered in the Reserve combines events in line with the summer black truffle fair taking place in nearby Acqualagna with a guided walk to visit the Gola del Furlo and an outdoor jazz concert at night.
The first opportunity offered to visitors is a truffle hunting competition starting at 8.00 in the park La Golena. Reservation is required. Phone: 340 1481290.
At 9.00 the appointment is with the main event, a free guided walk to know history and nature in the Reserve ending with a based truffle lunch to taste the seductive aroma symbol of the local cuisine. A 15 Euros fixed-price menu comprising crostini, tagliatelle and omelette will be served with black truffles directly sliced onto each plate, as recipes require. Reservation is required by July 29th. In the market area it will be possible to have meal and sample based truffle dishes and other local specialties at any time. Stalls will be open from 10.00 to the evening in the park La Golena.
Like in the past editions, a night jazz concert offered in the Gola del Furlo’s spectacular setting will end Fano Jazz by the Sea, the jazz music review taking place every summer in Fano. The appointment is at 21.15 in the park La Golena with the concert by No Bs! Brass Band, a band from Virginia similar to New Orleans’ marching bands. Free admission.
Sunday 24 July 2016: Guided walks in the Reserve to explore nature and to learn about its wildlife

It will be possible to admire also the two tunnels bored by the Romans along the via Flaminia, the grand road built during the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini. The route of the excursion will be flat and accessible to everybody. Length of the walk: about 6 kms round trip.
In the late afternoon the guided walk “Gli animali del Furlo” will take visitors to discover the Reserve’s abundant wildlife. Visitors will be lead to recognize birds songs, tracks and sounds revealing the presence of various species. A naturalist guide will explain why the golden eagles’ pair nesting on Monte Paganuccio, peregrin falcons and wolves found their habitat in the Gola del Furlo. Their pysical characteristics and behaviours will be explained too. It is recommended to bring binoculars or a telescope to admire crag martins hovering over the gorge. The hope is to see also the eaglet’s first attempts to fly out of the nest. At the end of the walk it will be possible to observe cormorants flying back to their dormitories at sunset.
