Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December 2016: Visits to the nature museum and walks by the free audioguides
No guided walks are in programme in the Reserve during the week-end. But everybody can always hike on his own thanks to the Reserve’s great network of trails. Hikes in the protected area are free and vary from flat short strolls in the area of the roman tunnels and of the romanesque abbey to harder walks to the mountain summits from where it is possible to enjoy grandiose sights over the Apennines. Guests can also profit by the free audioguides provided by the Visitor Centre of the Natural Reserve, situated in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. At the Visitor Centre it is also possible to visit the Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini museum, unmissable for those who want to know nature and protected species living in the Reserve. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, like wolves, fallow-deers, birds of prey, and sections dedicated to rocks and fossils. An interactive software leads visitors millions of years back in an enjoyable journey to discover the geological and anthropological history of the Gola del Furlo. An observation system has been created to monitor and show from the museum the golden eagles’ eyries built on the crags in Monte Paganuccio. Opening times on Saturday and Sunday: 9.00 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 17.00. Free admittance.
Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November 2016: Course on the wolf and overnight stay at the refuge
An exciting two-day course to discover the wolf with overnight stay at the refuge up Monte Paganuccio is the opportunity to visit the Reserve during the week-end. Meet on Saturday 26 November at 9am in Ca’ I Fabbri. Off-road vehicles are recommended to reach the refuge (700m). Return will be on Sunday at 3pm. The programme comprises hikes, lessons, sign tracking, observation and wolf howling. Reservation is required. The cost of 80 euros includes activities, lodging and meals served at the refuge. Autumn walks and two observation of the golden eagle’s eyrie are offered to visit the Reserve during the week-end.
Guided walks to enjoy the autumn colours by a flat itinerary across the Gola del Furlo are in programme on Saturday 12 November at 2.30pm and 2.45pm; and on Sunday 13 November at 10am, 10.15am, 2.30pm and 2.45pm. It will be possible to visit also the two tunnels drilled by the Romans along the via Flaminia, the grand road built during the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini. Meet at the Natural Reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36.

Many free events are offered to enjoy the Reserve on the occasion of the week-end and the following days off.
The programme starts with the Halloween feast for children taking place on Saturday 29 October at 3.30pm at the Natural Reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36.
Guided walks to enjoy nature and the autumn colours by a flat itinerary across the canyon are in programme on Sunday 30 October, Monday 31 October and Tuesday 1 November. On Tuesday 1 November a hike up Monte Pietralata to see the woods where truffles grow is organized by the Pesaro chapter of the Club Alpino Italiano, the national mountaneering association. A guide will explain why near Acqualagna and Cagli ecosystem, trees and climate are perfect for truffles to fluorish. Sunday 16 October 2016: Autumn walks to enjoy the Reserve
Two autumn colourful walks across the Reserve are in program, perfect for soaking up the season. Guests can also complete their journey into the Reserve’s nature by visiting the museum Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini where a large collection of stuffed animals, rocks and fossils is hosted.
In the morning a guided walk to Monte Pietralata’s panoramic terrace is the opportunity offered to admire the striking autumn colours and dramatic vistas of the Furlo gorge. Meet at 9.30 at the Natural Reserve of Gola del Furlo visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Visitors are recommended not to come by low vehicles as the distance to cover to the refuge on Monte Pietralata is on a mountain road. Wear hiking attire. Return will be around 1pm. Botanists and ornithologists will explain the sorts of plants and flowers and talk about the birds, such as the golden eagle, which can be observed in the protected area.
