Guided walks to explore nature and history and birdwatching walks with an ornithologist are the free activities to enjoy the Nature Reserve on the occasion of the next week-ends.

Sunday 29 October: Free autumn guided walk to explore the dam. On the occasion of the opening of the national white truffle fair taking place in Acqualagna it will be possible to visit the Enel dam on the Candigliano River at Furlo thanks to the guided walk “Meraviglie d’autunno nella Gola del Furlo”. The free guided walk will be also the opportunity to enjoy autumn colours across the Nature Reserve’s breath-taking landscapes. Meet at 2pm at the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve tourist office in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. The 5 kilometre walk alongside the Candigliano River will be flat and accessible to everybody. The visitors will be helped enjoy stunning autumn colour and explore the marvels of history and nature throughout the Gola del Furlo. A guide will explain the sorts of plants and flowers and talk about the wild animals and birds of prey, such as the golden eagle, which can be observed in the protected area. It will be possible to admire also the two tunnels bored by the Romans along the consular via Flaminia, the grand road built by the consul Caio Flaminio in the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini. A passionate ornithologist will lead partecipants along the scenic Candigliano River making stops at some birdwatching hot spots. The ornithologist will show how to recognize species recorded in the protected area, from water birds to diurnal birds of prey, by listening to their calls and observing their habits. The walk will be flat and accessible to everybody. Meet at the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve tourist office in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Bring binoculars. Reservation is not required.

Wednsday 1, Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 November: Autumn walks in the Reserve to discover nature and history. The free guided walks “Meraviglie d’autunno nella Gola del Furlo” will be the opportunities to enjoy the Reserve by learning about the interesting local history and beautiful fauna and flora. The guide will showcase the natural and historical sites in the Gola del Furlo, including the two tunnels bored by the Romans. The guided walks will be at 10.30am and 2.30pm on Wednsday 1 November and on Sunday 5 November. On Saturday 4 November the walk will be at 2.30pm. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, rocks and fossils. Interactive software transports visitors back millions of years on a journey to discover Gola del Furlo’s geological and anthropological history. An observation system has been established to allow visitors see the golden eagle’s eyrie built on the crags of Monte Paganuccio. Opening times: Monday-Friday 9.00 – 13.00; Saturday and Sunday 9.00 -13.00 and 14.00 – 18.00. Free entrance.

Saturday 30 September and Sunday 1 October 2017: Guided walks, birdwatching and readings for children thanks to "ViviFurlo 2017"

A rich programme of free events is offered during the week-end to help visitors enjoy the Reserve on the occasion of “Vivi Furlo 2017”.

Saturday 30th September. At 2.30pm the first opportunity will be a sensorial walk to explore Monte Pietralata. Thanks to volunteers manoeuvring Joelette, a two-wheeled chair that enables people with reduced mobility to get involved in hiking excursions, the walk will be accessible to everybody. The event for families and children will be “Girando la Fiaba”, a programme of readings of fables and tales taking place at 3.30pm at the visitor centre in the village of Furlo. A snack with cakes and sodas will be offered by Pro Loco Furlo, the local association promoting activities.

Sunday 1st October. In the morning the first opportunity will be a hike up Monte Paganuccio organized with the chapter of Pesaro of the Club Alpino Italiano. Meet at 8.45. Duration of the walk: 4 hours round trip. Length: 8 kilometres. Visitors will bring their sack lunch. The second opportunity will be at 9.30 thanks to “ArcheoFurlo”, the guided archaeological walk across the Gola del Furlo to visit the Roman tunnels and the other remains along the via Flaminia. The walk will be flat and accessible to everybody. At 9.30 there will be also the walk with donkeys at the Gola del Furlo. Children can ride the donkey and have an introduction to its characteristics and behaviors. At 10.00 families and children will profit by  “Prendi la mappa… e vivi la Fiaba”, a programme of games and readings taking place at the visitor centre. From 10am to 6pm it will be possible to practice birdwatching from an observation point near the river. An experienced guide will brief visitors on the birds living in the Nature Reserve and help them observe the golden eagles’ eyrie by a spotting scope. In the afternoon the programme continues by two guided walks “Tra le meraviglie della Gola”  starting at 2.30pm and 4.30pm to discover history and nature in the protected area: the walks will be flat and accessible to everybody.

A free guided walk to admire the Reserve’s stunning landscape from Monte Pietralata crossing woods and mountain pastures is in programme on Sunday morning. It will be also the opportunity to learn about the wild animals living in the protected area such as the golden eagle. Meet at 8.30am at the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Duration of the walk: 11 kms round trip. Length: 6 hours. Drop: 450 metres. A shorter walk of about 4 hours is possible by making a detour as indicated by the guide. Wear hiking shoes. Bring rain gear and bottled water. A few guided walks are in programme to help visitors enjoy the Reserve on Sunday 13, Tuesday 15 and Wednsday 16 August.

Sunday 13 and Tuesday 15 August: Guided walks “Tra le meraviglie della Gola”.  Two free guided walks will take place in the afternoon and in the evening on Sunday 13 and on Tuesday 15, on the occasion of the festivity of Ferragosto. At 9.30am and 3.30pm on both days visitors can profit by “Tra le meraviglie della Gola”, the guided walk throughout the marvels of nature and history in the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve. A guide will explain the sorts of plants and flowers and talk about the wild animals and birds of prey, such as the golden eagle, which can be observed in the protected area. It will be possible to admire also the two tunnels bored by the Romans along the consular via Flaminia. In fact the road via Flaminia, built by the consul Caio Flaminio in the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini, passes through the Gola del Furlo. Meet at the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve tourist office in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. The route of the walks will be flat and accessible to everybody.

Wednsday 16 August: Free guided walk to admire the landscape at sunset. The free guided walk is to admire the landscape at sunset from the top of Monte Paganuccio. Meet 4.45pm at the Nature Reserve tourist office in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Visitors will reach by their own cars the starting point of the walk at the refuge Ca’ I Fabbri. Off-road vehicles are recommended.

Two free events will help visitors enjoy the Reserve during the week-end.

Playful activities for children in the wood La Golena.  On Saturday afternoon families with children from 4 to 10 years old can play and take part in a short guided walk in the wood La Golena thanks to the programme of “Furlo Family”. Meet at 4.45pm at the nature reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36.

Guided archaeological walk.  On Sunday morning a guided archaeological walk will led visitors discover the great Roman remains along the Gola del Furlo. Guided walks, truffle based meals and a free jazz concert are the opportunities to enjoy the Reserve on the occasion of the Summer Black Truffle Fair taking place during the week-end in the village of Furlo.

Guided walk to explore nature, culture and local cuisine.  On Sunday 30th a guided walk from the village of Furlo to the archaeological area will lead to know nature and history in the Reserve and introduce visitors to the authentic local cuisine. The guided walk will be the kick-off of the rich programme of the day. The price of 15 euros includes breakfast and a black truffle based lunch. Summer black truffle market.  From 10am to the late afternoon the black truffle market taking place in the village of Furlo will be the opportunity to sample and buy the symbol of the local cuisine. Stalls will offer truffle-related products, regional wines and other specialties. Delicious based truffle meals will be served too.

Jazz concert. A night performance by the Gangbè Brass Band will be the final event of the XXV edition of Fano Jazz by the Sea. Meet at 9pm at the park La Golena. Free entrance.

A free nature walk taking place on Saturday afternoon and playful activities for children in programme on Sunday are the opportunities to help visitors enjoy the Reserve.
