Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 July 2017: Free guided walk at sunset and visits to the nature museum
The free guided walk “Emozioni al tramonto” to admire the Reserve’s stunning landscape from Monte Pietralata at sunset is in programme on Saturday. Meet at 4.45pm at the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. Free admission. The walk will be accessible to disabled people as the route to the panoramic spot on the mountain will be on the asphalt road to Monte Pietralata. No guided walks will take place on Sunday. But everybody can always hike on their own thanks to the Reserve’s great network of trails. Hikes in the Reserve are free and vary from short trolls in the area of the Roman tunnels and of the Romanesque abbey of San Vincenzo to harder walks to Monte Paganuccio and Monte Pietralata from where it is possible to enjoy fabulous sights over the Apennines. Guests can also profit by maps and information provided by the Nature Reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. On Saturday and Sunday opening times in the morning from 9am to 1pm and in the afternoon from 2pm to 6pm. Free entrance.
In the Nature Reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna it is possible to visit the renewed Lorenzo Mannozzi-Torini nature museum. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, rocks and fossils. Interactive software transports visitors back millions of years on a journey to discover Gola del Furlo’s geological and anthropological history. An observation system has been established to allow visitors to see the eyrie of the golden eagle, built on the crags of Monte Paganuccio. Free entrance.
