Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June 2017: Lecture on the birds of prey, playful activities for children, guided walk throughout the Gola del Furlo
Free events are offered to help visitors enjoy the Reserve during the week-end.
Friday 2 June: Lecture on the birds of prey. The lecture on the birds of prey living in the Reserve, such as the golden eagle, will be given by an expert naturalist. Meet at 3pm in the Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini nature museum in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. It is the occasion to visit the museum’s large collection of stuffed animals, rocks and fossils. Interactive software transports visitors back millions of years on a journey to discover Gola del Furlo’s geological and anthropological history. An observation system has been established to allow visitors to see the eyrie of the golden eagle, built on the crags of Monte Paganuccio.
Saturday 3 June: Playful activities for children. Meet at 3pm in the nature reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36 to have fun with the gnome Furlo. “I giochi dello Gnomo Furlo” is the event for children taking place in the woods near the visitor centre. Families will have the opportunity to visit the Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini nature museum.
Sunday 4 June: Guided walk “Tra le meraviglie della Gola”. Visitors can profit by “Tra le meraviglie della Gola”, the guided walk throughout the marvels of nature and history in the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve. A guide will explain the sorts of plants and flowers and talk about the wild animals and birds of prey, such as the golden eagle, which can be observed in the protected area. It will be possible to admire also the two tunnels bored by the Romans along the consular via Flaminia. In fact the road via Flaminia, built by the consul Caio Flaminio in the III century B.C. to connect Rome to Rimini, passes through the Gola del Furlo. Meet at 3.30pm at the Gola del Furlo Nature Reserve visitor centre in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. The route of the walk is flat and accessible to everybody.
