Hikes across the protected area and visits to the nature museum are the opportunities to enjoy the Reserve during the week-end.

Everybody can hike on his own thanks to the Reserve’s great network of trails. Walks are free and vary from flat short strolls in the archaeological area to harder hikes to the mountain summits from where it is possible to enjoy grandiose sights over the Apennines. Guests can also profit by the free audioguides provided by the Visitor Centre of the Natural Reserve, situated in the village of Furlo di Acqualagna, via Flaminia n.36. The visitor centre is open on Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 14.00 to 17.00. Audioguides are available in English as well as maps and guides detailing routes and day hikes. Phone 0721-700041. E-mail: riservafurlo@provincia.ps.it

At the Visitor Centre it is also possible to visit the Lorenzo Mannozzi Torini nature museum, unmissable for those who want to know nature and protected species living in the Reserve. The museum hosts a large collection of stuffed animals, like wolves, fallow-deers, birds of prey, and sections dedicated to rocks and fossils. An interactive software leads visitors millions of years back to discover the geological and anthropological history of the Gola del Furlo. An observation system has been appointed to show from the museum the golden eagles’ eyries built on the crags in Monte Paganuccio. Opening times on Saturday and Sunday: 9.00 – 13.00 and 14.00 – 17.00. Free admittance.
